About Me

Hi Wims Families! My name is Emily Pinegar and I am very excited to be joining the second grade team at Wilson Wims.

I was born in Bremerhaven, Germany and moved to Maryland when I was two when my dad was stationed at Andrew’s Air Force Base. We decided to stay in Maryland after he retired. I went to college at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland and earned my degree in Elementary Education in 2009. From there, I went back home to Charles County, Maryland to begin my teaching career. I worked with Charles County for eight years, teaching first and second grade while continuing to take classes toward my master’s degree. In 2015, I received a master’s degree from Towson University in reading and also qualified as a reading specialist.

My husband, Paul and I moved to Montgomery County in 2017 and last school year I taught third grade at Ritchie Park Elementary in Rockville. Second grade is my favorite grade to teach. My second grade teacher, Mrs. G. inspired me to become a teacher. I loved that she made all of her lessons fun and I still remember when she dressed up as Mrs. Viola Swamp from Miss Nelson is Missing to teach us about character traits.

When I’m not at school, you can find my family and I cheering on our favorite sports teams. We love watching Terps Football, the Capitals, Redskins and Nationals!

I look forward to getting to know all of you this year! It’s going to be a fun adventure!
